Why do men carry women's bags?

Its an age old question that I've been meaning to ask?...

Does the man feel superior and would like to show off their masculinity...as if to say hey!, I can look after this very heavy wallet, sunglasses, make-up kit, and other's...while you shop around for shoes, or maybe...another handbag?. Or is this a sensitive side to men, who actually do care for their better half's aching shoulders or hands?...come on, they don't even look good carrying it!

I can't really figure this out, as its not done in other Western countries. Of course, men carry diaper bags, but that is different as it serves a purpose for changing a wet baby. Are Western men then considered more 'macho' or less considerate?. Maybe in China, men are more sensitive to the need's of their better half.

Saying this is also not true...as in Japan.. Men Bags are extremely popular.

Men not only carry bags on their hands, they sling it around their shoulders as well!, hence its with pride that they show off their branded bags of Gucci or LV...which am sure is the case as they prance around from the office to bar with it. Wonder what they store inside...Computer, wallet, a Shisheido After 5PM makeup kit?...So..Men have Men Bags, and Women have Ladies Handbags. So what happens when they both have bags?

Would the men still offer to carry the ladies handbag?, or would they refrain and allow their better half to suffer like they do...interesting one.

Anyway, my opinion remains, that carrying a ladies bag is akin to driving in a pink car. It serves the function whatever it maybe but not a very 'proper' thing for a man to do.
